1. How do I search for companies on www.kompass.co.uk

This depends on the type of user you are and what you are looking for. As a member, you can search for products, company, trade and executive names in a particular region/country using the search boxes at the top of the page.

As a subscriber, click on the Advanced Search link to access the numerous search criteria which are available. Select the regions/countries, then click on Add and start specifying your search criteria.

2. How many Countries/Companies are available

There are currently more than 2.3 million companies available in 70 countries.

3. How are the Kompass Categories (Product Classifications) organised ?

The Kompass Categories are organised so that they comprise of three levels of detail. For example:

Kompass Product Category	Kompass Product Category Code	Kompass Product Category Description
2 digit level - Industry Sector	02	Agriculture, Food & Beverages
5 digit level - Market Sector	02200	Cereals
7 digit level - Detailed Product	0220018	Wheat

To view these categories, in the Search Type box, select Browse Categories, then select a country/region and click on the Search button.

Each Kompass Product Category level will be displayed and when clicked on will show all the product sub-categories it contains.

There are currently 57,000 7 digit product headings. You can download a list of 2 & 5 digit product codes here. The A to Z listing is also a useful reference which lists all of our product codes at 2, 5 & 7 digit level.

4. How can I search for a product ?

To view the available product categories, in the Search Type box, select Browse Categories, then select a country/region and click on the Search button. If you are credit unit user or subscriber, click on Advanced Search and you can search for products and services using one or more search words or by using a Kompass Product Category Code.

5. What search criteria are available ?

There are numerous search criteria available – if you are a subscriber click on Advanced Search, to gain access to the detailed search criteria.

6. How are credit units used ?

Companies are split into Premium and Other Suppliers. If you are a credit unit user, you will use 1 credit to view any company who is listed as an "other supplier" (or non-advertiser on Kompass).

If you are a subscriber, you will use 1 print credit to print any "other supplier" (or non-advertiser on Kompass). You will use 1 download credit to download any company from Kompass.

7. How can I output companies from www.kompass.co.uk

You can print companies (up to 50 at a time) in a pdf format. You can also download company details (up to 400 at a time) in a txt or csv format.
